STAGE MANAGER

• Communication:
  The stage manager is responsible for communicating with the cast via email on a weekly basis regarding scheduling and messages from the director.  They will also be the primary point of contact for the actors in a production via text and email.

• Blocking:
  The stage manager will take down all of the blocking provided in rehearsals in their copy of the script or libretto.  They will keep up with any changes in blocking or wording that is made during rehearsals.

• Props:
  The stage manager is responsible for laying props out at rehearsals and packing them away at the end of a week.  They will also be responsible for setting up prop tables during the week of the show.

• Rehearsal/Church Set Up:
  The stage manager is responsible for enlisting cast members to help clear the chancel area of the church to prepare it for rehearsals.  They will also oversee returning the church items to their correct places to reset the church for worship or special services.

• Scene Changes:
  The stage manager will be responsible for knowing what set and prop pieces need to be moved during scene changes in a show.  They will also be responsible for assigning either actors or stagehands to move specific set pieces/props during a scene change.

• Calling the Show:
  The stage manager will be on headset in the lighting/sound booth to be in contact with the lighting & sound personnel, the assistant stage manager and/or crew leader for scene changes, holding the curtain, and any other issues that may arise during a performance.

• Strike:
  The stage manager will work with the director on organizing and assigning persons to the strike list at the end of the last show.

• Qualifications:
  NONE!  Simply an interest in learning about stage management and being self-motivated.  Training and guidance will be provided by the production director or another member of the Leadership Team.

ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER

• Shadowing:
  The assistant stage manager will shadow the stage manager to learn the responsibilities and duties of this position.

• Absence of Stage Manager:
  If the stage manager is not able to attend a rehearsal, the assistant stage manager would take over the responsibilities of the stage manager.

• Rehearsal/Church Set Up:
  The assistant stage manager will assist the stage manager in setting up for rehearsals and church services.

• Calling the Show:
  The assistant stage manager will be responsible for being on headset in the green room to give the actors their time warnings for places as well as to assist with an issues that arise in the green room or backstage.

• Qualifications:
  NONE!  Simply an interest in learning about stage management and being self-motivated.  Training and guidance will be provided by the production director or another member of the Leadership Team.

STUDENT DIRECTOR (summer musicals only)

• Artistic Vision:
  Working with the production director, share artistic ideas and visions. 

• Leadership and Guidance:
  The director is responsible for leading rehearsals, providing constructive feedback, and fostering a collaborative environment.  At the director's discretion or in the absence of the director, the student director will take over the activity of running rehearsals.

• Communication:
  The student director should assist the production director and the stage managers with keeping the cast informed about the production schedule, changes, and important information. Additionally, the student director should assist the production director with informing the cast of any blocking changes.

• Scheduling:
  The student director should be present at a blocking meeting with the production director, the auditions, rehearsals, strike and a post show debriefing with the production director.  At the discretion of the director, the student director may be asked to create blocking for portions of the show.

• Costumes and Props:
  The student director will be involved in costume design and props with the production director.  This may include, but is not limited to, helping pull props and costumes from storage, organizing costumes at the venue, and steaming costumes.

• Qualifications:
  Just an interest in learning about directing, props, costumes, set design, and/or stage management!  Students who are self-driven and self-motivated are a definite plus! 

STUDENT DIRECTOR APPRENTICE (summer musicals only)

• Artistic Vision:
  Working with the production director and the student director, share artistic ideas and visions. 

• Shadowing Student  Director:
  Working with a previous student director to learn the responsibilities, leadership skills, and activities completed by a student director

• Qualifications:
  Just an interest in learning about directing, props, costumes, set design, and/or stage management!  Students who are self-driven and self-motivated are a definite plus! The apprecntice student director should be available for the next summer to move into the student director role and train a new apprentice.
